About CRID

The Connecticut Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (CRID) is a non-profit organization founded in 1971 and is one of more than 50 local chapters affiliated with the national Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID).  RID is the only national association dedicated to the professional development of interpreters and transliterators.  Founded in 1964, the goal of RID is to promote the profession of interpreting for Deaf and hard of hearing persons.

When you become a member of CRID, you support our goals to:

bullet

promote and maintain the NAD-RID Code of Professional Conduct for interpreters and transliterators,

bullet

foster professional support for interpreters, novice through experienced, in attaining new information and knowledge in areas that concern the interpreting profession,

bullet

provide the opportunity for an exchange of ideas and information through workshops, training activities, meetings and social events,

bullet

encourage interpreters, professionals in related fields, and community members to be involved in the advancement of the profession,

bullet

support organizations and activities of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community.

CRID members are interpreters, Deaf consumers, professionals who provide services to Deaf persons, and community supporters.  Discounts on workshops are available to members.  All members are encouraged to attend and participate in membership meetings, workshops, social events and other CRID activities.
